Slang Tutor

One Singlish, Manglish, or Tinglish phrase a day. The kind a local would actually say — not the kind a phrasebook prints.

What It Does

Sound less tourist. Each morning.

Slang Tutor sends you one phrase a day — current, useful, and the kind a local actually uses. Choose your dialect (Singlish, Manglish, or Tinglish), pick your start time, get a shareable card you can flip into your friend group.

I

One phrase, every morning

Real phrases from real conversation — not 1990s textbook "howdy partner" stuff. With pronunciation, when to use it, and when not to.

II

All three dialects on Premium

Singlish, Manglish, Tinglish — each with its own daily card. Premium unlocks all three so you can pick the dialect that matches the city you're in.

III

Shareable card

Each phrase comes as a square card you can forward into your friend group or post to your IG story — "learned this today" energy without effort.

Today's Phrase

What Slang Tutor sends each morning

Phrase. Translation. When you'd use it. When you wouldn't. Shareable card attached.

Today's Singlish

"Can lah" · the most flexible word in Singapore

Can lah = yes, sure, fine, no problem. The lah softens it — without it sounds curt. Use it: "You free Saturday?" → "Can lah." Don't use it: in a formal email. Locals use it 30 times a day. Once you start, you can't stop.
Friend Group

Drop a phrase in. Everyone learns.

Add Slang Tutor to your group chat. Everyone in the group sees the same daily card. Best for expat groups, travel friends, or anyone with a transplant trying to fit in faster.

Today's Manglish "Aiyoh" = ugh / oh no / for heaven's sake. Use when something mildly annoying happens. "Aiyoh, traffic so jam." Manglish-flavored sigh. Drop it casually — don't lean on it.

Questions

What you might want to know

What's the difference between the dialects?
Singlish is Singapore English with Hokkien, Malay, Tamil borrowings. Manglish is Malaysian English with more Cantonese / Malay flavors. Tinglish is Thai-English — words borrowed from Thai with English sentence structure. Same family, different cousins.
Are these real local phrases or stereotypes?
Real and current — the database is curated by native speakers and refreshed monthly. We avoid the tired stereotype phrases the internet copy-pastes.
Can I request a phrase?
Premium yes. DM the bot "how do I say [something]" and you get the dialect-appropriate version with usage notes.
Can I cancel?
Anytime, from the Stripe customer portal link in your receipt email. Premium stays through the current billing period.
Do I need a LINE account?
